Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has asked the national government to act swiftly and sort out the crisis at the National Health Insurance Fund(NHIF).<\/p>\n

Savula who was speaking during the launch of the Kakamega County Health Fund 2023 at Bukhungu stadium on Wednesday also took a swipe at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority asking the president to streamline it.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that patients were not able to get medical services from private facilities because NHIF has not paid them.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere in Kakamega the county government is doing its best to put up health infrastructure in our county and subcounty hospitals but we are having a problem with the NHIF card, many patients are turned away from private hospitals because they have not been paid by the NHIF,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

Savula urged Health Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai who was present at the function to help sort out the crisis in the national insurance agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should restructure NHIF so that when governors can put structures to enhance the infrastructure down here so that people can get NHIF services,\u201d Savula said.<\/p>\n

The DG also lauded President William Ruto\u2019s government for the crackdown at Kemsa.<\/p>\n
