Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Sports Cabinet Secretary, Ababu Namwamba, officially flagged off Team Kenya to the second edition of the Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the event at the Weston Hotel, the CS reiterated the government\u2019s unwavering support and confidence in the team\u2019s abilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you go forth to represent our nation, I want to assure you of the government’s total support. I have no doubt you will deliver an outstanding performance.”<\/p>\n

He revealed that the government had invested Sh 170 million in the team’s preparations and that is why they were put in camps in both Malindi and Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet Secretary announced, “We have revised the Talanta Hela initiative, extending it not only to world records but to all athletes. “Your efforts will be recognised and rewarded. So, go out there and give your best, knowing that the entire nation and the government stand behind you.”<\/p>\n

NOC-K Deputy President Shadrack Maluki and executive member Paul Otula also extended their good wishes to the athletes, saying they have confidence the athletes will make the country proud.<\/p>\n

The Kenyan athletes have been rigorously preparing for the games, with basketball training sessions being held at Umoja Courts in Nairobi and wrestling at Strathmore University.<\/p>\n

Brian Ziruel, the captain of the 3X3 U23 Basketball men’s team, expressed his gratitude for the support received.<\/p>\n

“Representing your country internationally is a dream come true for every basketball player. The presence of the Cabinet Secretary at this early stage to bid us farewell and flag us off is a tremendous motivation for the team.”<\/p>\n
