Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Enraged Gor Mahia fans camped at the entrance of the team’s dressing room for several minutes demanding the sacking of head coach Jonathan McKinstry following their 3-2 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The fans barged through a ring of law enforcers to access their way into the area, while chanting the chorus “We are fed up!”<\/p>\n

However, in a postmatch interview, Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry jumped to the defence of his charges, saying they simply had a bad day in office.<\/p>\n

“We put up a good fight but our opponents fought tooth and nail to carry the day. Homeboyz were calm throughout the encounter because they had absolutely nothing to lose,” McKinstry said.<\/p>\n

“Our boys were fighting two battles at the same time. We were eager to win the game and win the league. That brought a lot of pressure that might have cost us the match,” he added.<\/p>\n

The Irish gaffer, however, urged his charges to collect maximum points in their final encounter against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“The league will be decided on that day. We have no option but to win against City Stars,” he said.<\/p>\n

As McKinistry bemoaned the unfortunate turn of events, his opposite number Patrick Odhiambo beamed off a satisfactory smile.<\/p>\n

“We are happy with today’s outcome. We promised to win against Gor and that’s exactly what we have achieved,” Odhiambo said.<\/p>\n

“The boys are in good shape and we are looking forward to winning the FKF Cup final against Tusker on July 1,” he remarked.<\/p>\n

Shafik Kagimu’s diving header from Austin Odhiambo’s sumptuous cross fired K’Ogalo into the lead in the 12th minute of the encounter.<\/p>\n

Ambrose Sifuna pounced on a loose clearance to restore parity in the 38th minute.<\/p>\n

Gor reclaimed the lead in the 47th minute when Odhiambo burnt a hole in the net with a rasping shot after latching on to James Macharia’s pass on the edge of the box.<\/p>\n

However, Kevin Amwayi ruined K’Ogalo’s party shortly thereafter with a 56th-minute equaliser. The defeat narrowed the gap between K’Ogalo and second-placed Tusker to a solitary point.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s outcome has Gor at the apex of the log with 67 points, one better than defending champions Tusker who rallied from behind to play out a one-all draw against Posta Rangers at the Ruaraka Complex.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Bandari beat Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 at Mbaraki grounds in Mombasa. Wazito kept their survival hopes alive with a slim 1-0 win over Bidco United at Thika Stadium.<\/p>\n

Sofapaka heaped more misery on AFC Leopards after edging them 1-0 at Nyayo Stadium.<\/p>\n

Nzoia Sugar’s aspirations for a maiden topflight title suffered a major setback after crashing 2-0 to KCB at Sudi Stadium as Mathare United and Ulinzi Stars played out a one-all draw. Police FC hammered VihigaBullets 4-1 at the Police Sacco stadium<\/p>\n
