Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has said he has no problem with Azimio la Umoja protests. In an interview with France 24 in Paris on Friday, Ruto said the demos should, however, be organised.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no problem with Raila Odinga. I have no problem with him organising protests. There’re protests here in Paris,\u201d he said. Ruto said he has only requested that the Opposition led by Raila should not engage in the destruction of property.<\/p>\n

\u201c I have just asked Raila and company not to engage in violence and destruction of property. That’s all. We are a democracy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called supporters for a consultation meeting next Tuesday to decide the next course of action following the passage of the controversial Finance Bill 2023.<\/p>\n

The opposition said the passage of the Bill signals the era of leadership and must be resisted. Addressing a press conference at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Martha Karua said Kenyans can never be helpless in deciding their destiny.<\/p>\n

Members of Parliament on Wednesday night passed President William Ruto’s proposed Finance Bill, 2023. The Bill passed after a third reading by the National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee chairman, Kuria Kimani.<\/p>\n

It will now be sent to the president to assent, for the proposals to become law. This now means Kenyans will have to dig deeper into their pockets, to fund Ruto’s first budget as Head of State<\/p>\n
