Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has defied the court\u2019s order barring him from uttering defamatory words against the media.<\/p>\n

Just a few days after the order was issued, the CS who was addressing residents of Kimorori area in Maragua constituency used derogatory words in reference to the media.<\/p>\n

He accused the sector of supporting Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

The court had issued the order following a petition filed by lawyer Charles Mugane seeking to have him barred from threatening the media after he attacked Nation Media Group for publishing an expose’ on edible oils.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same way you feel bad when I call you that name is the same way we feel when you criticize us,\u201d he said to the surprise of members of the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet them give us time to work. They were with the other government for 10 years. They had their own candidate known as Raila Odinga, and he failed. Let them accept that their candidate failed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll hold the bull by the horns but you have to brave its kicks,\u201d he said, swearing not to stop his onslaught on the media sector.<\/p>\n

He said this while accompanying nominated MP Sabina Chege on a food donation exercise to four constituencies in the county.<\/p>\n

But in the Kandara constituency, Chege told the CS that journalists covering their function had been irked by his sentiments.<\/p>\n

\u201cMurang\u2019a journalists are good. We have worked together since 2012 so don\u2019t call them that name,\u201d she said with a chuckle.<\/p>\n

When he rose to address the crowd, Kuria said he had no issues with journalists but asked them to \u2018get saved and stop peddling lies\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said the media fraternity should respect the current leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell them to stop insulting me. I don\u2019t speak out for my own sake but yours. When they insult me, they\u2019re insulting you too. Tafadhali tuheshimiane jameni,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the media should stop being used by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying his tenure ended<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in any case, why would they support us? They did not support us even the other time but we still won. Didn\u2019t they fail together with Raila?\u201d<\/p>\n
