Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya sevens player Johnston Olindi is expected to rejoin KCB for the final three legs of the national sevens circuit according to coach Andrew Amonde. Amonde said the 22-year-old secured a short-term professional contract in Canada and will be back in August.<\/p>\n

\u201c I’m in communication with him and he has told me will be available for selection for the Prinsloo, Christie and George Mwangi Kabeberi sevens\u201d added Amonde<\/p>\n

The bankers face a resurgent Quins, fast-rising Masinde Muliro University and Mombasa RFC in pool B of the two-day Dala Sevens tournament in Kisumu this weekend.<\/p>\n

“Its tricky pool. Quins are playing well, Masinde are tough competitor and Mombasa will want to prove a point\u201d noted Amonde<\/p>\n

The former Kenya sevens captain said they will unveil new attack and defence patterns which they have been using during the pre-season in the Lakeside city.<\/p>\n

“We played in the Great Rift Valley ten aside tournament in May which we won and played in four-team tournament at RFUEA ground recently. We have a couple of plays which we will use for Dala and Driftwood tournaments\u201d added Amonde<\/p>\n

KCB will rely on Jacob Ojee, Levi Amunga, livewire scrumhalf Samuel Asati and Isaac Njoroge. Amonde is expected to hand out debuts to Austin Sikutwa, William Opaka , Elvis Namusasi and Lionel Ajeliti.<\/p>\n

“We have good balance in terms of experience and fresh faces. The depth of the squad looks good and we anticipate a competitive Dala sevens tournament.”<\/p>\n

This will be Amonde’s first coaching assignment in sevens. \u201cI’m not nervous but I am excited to return home to Kisumu where I grew up. To coach KCB in this event is an honour\u201d Amonde pointed out.<\/p>\n

Defending champions Oilers, Strathmore, Mwamba and Quin are tipped to do well making the lakeside tournament even more thrilling if Amonde is to be believed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe series will be very tough. Everyone will have their international players on the field. It is going to be very close,” he finalised.<\/p>\n
