Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has led Kenyans in mourning the death of 45 people in a tragic road accident in Londiani, along the Nakuru-Kericho highway.<\/p>\n

There were fears the death toll could rise to 55, as some bodies remained trapped in the wreckage.<\/p>\n

The President said it was worrying that some of those who had died in the accident are promising young people.<\/p>\n

Ruto called on motorists to drive carefully during this rainy season as he wished to who sustained injuries quick recoveries.<\/p>\n

“The country mourns with the families who have lost loved ones in a horrific road accident in Londiani, Kericho County. It is distressing that some of the fatalities are young people with a promising future and business people who were on their daily chores.<\/p>\n

“We pray for the speedy recovery of all survivors; you are in our thoughts. We urge motorists to be extra cautious on roads, especially now when we are experiencing heavy rainfall,” the president said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Opposition leader Raila Odinga also said it was sad that the country has lost so many people in a single accident.<\/p>\n

The former Prime Minister urged drivers and other road users to be extra cautious.<\/p>\n

“This is a sad day for our country…as many children have been orphaned and many widowed… To the injured, we wish them quick recovery,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also said the horrific road accident spells unspeakable loss to our nation.<\/p>\n

He added that it is painful to lose loved ones at any age, especially in a tragic road accident like this.<\/p>\n

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones and quick recovery to the survivors of this tragic road accident. I urge maximum care on our roads at all times by all road users.”<\/p>\n
