Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Thika Queens will now be known as Kenya Police Bullets FC after it was acquired by Kenya Premier League side, Kenya Police. Kenya Police chief executive officer, Chris Oguso on Friday said the team will be entirely owned by the Police FC and the Board of Trustees. He revealed plans to hire a new coach and a technical bench.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew players will also be recruited to enhance the squad to an international level just like we did to our men’s team,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOur target is to go for the national championship, Cecafa, and CAF Women’s Champions League.\u201d He further revealed that they have been planning to own a women’s team for some time since the club joined the premier league.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen CAF came with the new guidelines where it\u2019s required that any team that will qualify for the continental showdown must have a ladies’ team. Through our Board of trustees we agreed to own a ladies’ team but not for convenience but to participate in the women\u2019s premier league,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u201cHence we were lucky to get a premier league team Thika Queens whose owner accepted to pass it to Police management.\u201d The club has produced some players like Mwanahalima Adam and Essey Akida, who have gone on to play professional football outside the country.<\/p>\n

Other clubs including record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Tusker are in the process of acquiring women\u2019s teams. Caf directed clubs participating in continental competitions to have women’s sides.<\/p>\n
