The accident has so far claimed the lives of over 51 people.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Saturday, Murkomen called for relevant agencies to revise speed limits in the area and provide bumps and signage. He said all markets along the road reserve should be relocated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCounty Governments in partnership with the national government through the intergovernmental framework should construct markets off the Highways even as KeNHA constructs access roads to the markets,\u201d Murkomen said.<\/p>\n<p>Murkomen said the National Police Service in conjunction with NTSA to intensify anti-drunk driving operations across the country. He ordered the National Safety and Transport Authority (NTSA) to include the dangerous section as one of the spots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNTSA should install speed detection cameras, especially in the upcoming pilot phase, to support the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations,\u201d Murkomen said.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated that the re-testing of PSV and commercial service vehicle drivers to continue as a way of assessing their competency before the renewal of driving licenses. In addition, he said all County transport safety committees to re-embark on road safety education and awareness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCounty Transport Safety Committees in all 47 counties to immediately embark on road safety education and awareness programmes for traders, pedestrians, school children and bodaboda operators,\u201d Murkomen said.<\/p>\n<p>The CS said the Ministry in consultation with various stakeholders will finalise the development of the NTSA Operation of Commercial Service Vehicles Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry to hold consultative meetings with the East Africa Community (EAC) to guide on the harmonisation of motor vehicle inspection in the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also called on EPRA to investigate the sale of unadulterated fuel sold to unsuspecting motorists. \u201cI call upon all motorists to be careful on the roads for their safety and that of other road users,\u201d Murkomen said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
