Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty four per cent of Kenyans use clean fuel and technology for cooking, a report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows. The report also says a majority of 62 per cent are using wood as the source of fuel.<\/p>\n

According to the report, a higher percentage of the population in urban areas which is 59 per cent use clean fuels and technology for cooking. This is compared to 6 per cent of the population in rural areas.<\/p>\n

Clean cooking fuels and technologies include stoves, cookers that use electricity, natural gas, solar, and ethanol The report also noted that half of the Kenyans cook indoors, 30 per cent of them not having separate rooms for cooking.<\/p>\n

63 per cent of rural households were however said to have a separate building for cooking compared to urban areas which is at 8 per cent.<\/p>\n

“The majority of 63 per cent of rural households have a separate building for cooking, compared to the 8 per cent in urban areas,” it said.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (2022 KDHS) was implemented by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The survey\u2019s objective was to provide up-to-date information on socio-economic, demographic, nutrition and health indicators for planning, monitoring and evaluation of various health programmes and policies.<\/p>\n

It was also done through a questionnaire where they used the household questionnaire, the woman\u2019s questionnaire, the man\u2019s questionnaire, and the biomarker questionnaire.<\/p>\n
