Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former MP Kabando wa Kabando has said that he has nothing against President William Ruto and he will not join the ruling party, UDA. Speaking on Tuesday, Kabando said that just because he congratulated the head of state and has in some instances backed his decisions, it should not be thought that he will dance to Ruto’s tune.<\/p>\n

“As a democrat, I congratulated Ruto instant to Supreme Court upholding his election, thus recognising him as 5th president. It didn’t, can’t mean joining UDA, seeking favour, or becoming a regime surrogate. I am my own free spirit. Criticisms ruffle insecure, erratic regimes,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said that he will continue playing his democratic role of criticizing the government whenever it oversteps its mandate. “I consciously chose my @Wakabando space to air my views in consistently, boldly holding a potentially dictatorial, incorrigibly corrupt regime to account. Yesterday, UDA top brass hosted a group at State House to plot how to “deal with Ruto critics.” I can’t and won’t be intimidated!<\/p>\n

“Suffice to say that I have completely nothing personal against President Ruto, nor do I habor any personal expectation from his regime whatsoever. Our defence of the Rule of Law, Constitutionalism and Kenya’s Sovereign integrity means boldly condemning errors and graft in Ruto’s era,” the former Mukurweini MP said.<\/p>\n

He, however, noted that he will always support the president whenever it is necessary. Kabando added that he will unapologetically and objectively stand up to Ruto regime’s excesses because Kenya is going back to the dark days.<\/p>\n

“If we still our voices, Kenya falls… insults, ridicule, violence, blackmail, detention without trial, and assassinations of critics didn’t silence patriotic voices opposed to Moi’s corrupt tyrannical regime. My instinct says if Ruto is not loudly checked, Moi’s page will reopen. May those who can, boldly, speak out.”<\/p>\n
