Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Activist Boniface Mwangi has opined that the Azimio MPs who defied their party’s stand to back President William Ruto will in future betray the head of state.<\/p>\n

Mwangi was reacting to a list of MPs who visited President Ruto at the State House, Nairobi on Tuesday. The activist said a traitor will always remain a traitor and that Ruto should not be guaranteed that he will always be supported by the MPs.<\/p>\n

“Those who betrayed their voters and party for a few coins will betray Ruto as well. Once a traitor always a traitor,” Mwangi tweeted Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The opposition politicians who have been making visits to State House claimed they have been doing so in order to bring development to their areas. But according to Mwangi, MPs don’t have to visit the State House to get development opportunities.<\/p>\n

He said every fiscal year, Parliament approves how the government spends Kenyans taxes that according to him is not based on who visited the State House or not.<\/p>\n

“Parliament approves how the government spends our taxes. Parliament, not the President,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The government will not fail to release CDF money because you\u2019re in the opposition.”<\/p>\n

The activist gave case examples of Governors elected on Azimio’s ticket to demonstrate that no leader must support the government of the day to receive development funds.<\/p>\n

He said many Azimio governors received their allocations for development without changing political camps. “The governors who were elected on Azimio’s ticket are performing just fine, even without supporting Ruto,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s within your right to support whomever you want but betraying the people who elected you, and then lying to them about why you\u2019re doing it, is just wrong.”<\/p>\n

He went on to suggest that the Speakers of the Senate and National Assemblies should have declared seats occupied by MPs who defied Azimio stand vacant.<\/p>\n

Mwangi chided Ruto for saying having said in the past that he wants a strong opposition only to end up recruiting some of Azimio MPs to his camp. “Why is he then wasting time and money ‘buying’ opposition politicians?” Mwangi posed.<\/p>\n

“But maybe Ruto doesn\u2019t want that. He wants a rubber-stamp parliament.”<\/p>\n
