Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando now says President William Ruto’s removal from office is a matter of certainty and not probability.<\/p>\n

In a series of tweets on Saturday, the former lawmaker said whereas the 10 million signature collection drive is not a legally bidding process to kick a President out of office, the mass revolution will get the job done.<\/p>\n

“Articles 144, 145 & 146 of Kenya Constitution: President can only cease holding office by way of proven mental incapacity or impeachment, endorsed 67% @Senate_KE @NAssemblyKE. 10m signatures can’t, won’t,” Kabando said.<\/p>\n

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Friday launched a 10 million signature collection drive at the historic Kamukunji drive in a bid to withdraw the people’s sovereignty from Ruto and his regime.<\/p>\n

He said he hopes to achieve the milestone by next month and “get this rogue government out of power”.<\/p>\n

Raila’s call for Kenyans to attend the Saba Saba rally which marked the onset of a fresh series of anti-government protests was answered by multitudes who brave teargas and water canons in their attempt to march to CBD.<\/p>\n

Kabando warned that the huge crowds portend a looming mass revolt akin to the Arab Spring that saw several governments kicked out of office.<\/p>\n

Kabando opined that should the President refuse to back down on the Finance Act, this may serve to fuel opposition against his regime to a level that may even see the police “go slow on protesters, down their tools or even join demonstrators against the government”.<\/p>\n

He, however, warned that countries that experience revolts or coups end up “irredeemably chaotic” and Kenya should not go that route.<\/p>\n

He said it would be the only option should Ruto refuse to act on concerns about taxes and the cost of living.<\/p>\n

Kabando claimed the situation in the country has negatively affected Kenyans such that areas that supported him almost to a man are now<\/p>\n

“I don’t know if it’s just mere coincidence that everyone from Mt Kenya region now says, ‘I did not elect Ruto,’ or what is happening? Methinks we should regret our choices. Kufanya kosa si kosa, kosa ni kurudia kosa. Except for a paltry still fanatical lot, 80% Mt Kenya ‘imeenda,” he said.<\/p>\n
