Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Monday held discussions with leaders from Uasin Gishu County to solve the conflict on the military land in Eldoret.<\/p>\n

Duale stated that the ministry remains committed to having a mutual settlement of the cases concerned with the military land and the local communities.<\/p>\n

In a tweet, Duale stated that to have an integrated society, there is a need for a military presence.<\/p>\n

“As the Ministry we remain committed to having mutual settlement of all cases regarding the military land and the local communities everywhere we have the military presence to achieve an integrated society,” he said.<\/p>\n

The CS said that legal action will be taken on all the pending cases.<\/p>\n

“Some cases pitying the military against the local community have dragged in court for years and have no sign of closure but we are glad for the successful deliberations aimed at having the matters resolved amicably and expeditiously,” the CS said.<\/p>\n

Duale adds that good relations between the local community and the ministry are key.<\/p>\n

“I reaffirmed the position of the Ministry to have good relations with the local community since they are a critical component in our security infrastructure,” he said.<\/p>\n

Leaders present during the meeting included Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Senator Jackson Mandago, and Turbo MP Joyce Sitienei.<\/p>\n

Principal Secretaries Patrick Mariru (Defence) and Nixon (Lands), Vice Chief of Defence Forces Jonah Mwangi,<\/p>\n

Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics David Keter and the chairman, National Land Commission Gershom Otachi and other stakeholders with their lawyers.<\/p>\n
