Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio coalition has announced that protests against the high cost of living will take place on Wednesday next week. Azimio however said the demonstrations will be for one day and will begin from 6am to 6pm.<\/p>\n

This comes even as the country struggles to come to terms with the effects experienced during the three days of protests called by the opposition this week.<\/p>\n

Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has asked their supporters to remain peaceful even when provoked by the police, adding that the world is watching. Kalonzo said the mayhem witnessed on day one of the three days of protests this week left several people hospitalised and nursing injuries.<\/p>\n

“We, therefore, have reached a conclusion on peaceful, and we stress peaceful and unarmed demonstrations,” Kalonzo said during a press conference on Saturday.<\/p>\n

“We call on our people to remain vigilant on that call however much you feel provoked don\u2019t harm any policeman leave it to them to harm you the world is watching,” he added.<\/p>\n

This comes barely a day after the religious leaders called for dialogue between the government and the opposition. Religious leaders have continued to pile pressure on President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to dialogue to avert the ongoing protests.<\/p>\n

The protests they said have continued to push the country to a deeper crisis. During the press conference, National Assembly leader Opiyo Wandayi, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and former Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria were present. ODM Leader Raila Odinga and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua were absent.<\/p>\n
