Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The county government of Vihiga has allocated Sh10 million under the 2023\/2024 budget to facelift Mumboha grounds, CEC for Sports Mulongo Onzere has said.<\/p>\n

Mulongo said the intended works have been cited as urgent as they seek to have the facility fit to host Kenyan Premier League matches by September.\u200b<\/p>\n

“As a county, we shall be greening out the ground and leveling it to meet the required standards. This will help top teams from the county to stay clear of hiring grounds for their matches,” Onzere told the star.<\/p>\n

The facility is currently home to Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League side Bunyore Starlets as well as Division One club Luanda Villa.<\/p>\n

Mulongo said the renovations will uplift it to a level where it can host National Super League.<\/p>\n

Villa are currently placed second on the log with the hopes that they will be part of the second-tier league next season.<\/p>\n

Villa, who have been in the third tier for three years, have 56 points, two behind leaders Zoo.<\/p>\n

Coach Tom Tera remains optimistic about climbing to the NSL.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we fail to get promotion, most of the players and our fans will be very disappointed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
