Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Revamped wardrobe? New fashion sense? You name it all. President William Ruto’s new liking for Kaunda suits has surely turned Kenyans’ heads. The President is a man known for grooming well to the core whenever he appears in public.<\/p>\n

Just as Kenyans got used to him in normal suits, he has recently unleashed a new look by often donning Kaunda suits. This has caught many by surprise.<\/p>\n

Pictures have made rounds in social media with discussions on Ruto’s new mode of dressing dominating conversations. In many public functions, the president has shown up donning a Kaunda suit save for the fact he has been wearing different colours.<\/p>\n

Unlike the previous years, the President was used to wearing a formal suit and tie featuring black blazers, white shirts and red ties. Ruto was first seen in a Kaunda suit while on a trip to Djibouti on June 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

He then came out in a black Kaunda suit and a fedora on a tour to Nakuru. attracting people’s attention. Since then, the President has stepped out in Kaunda suits save for the times he attends specific events like sports.<\/p>\n

He was seen dressed in a full safari rally regalia in Naivasha when he flagged off the 2023 WRC Safari Rally. Widely known as safari or moo suits, the Kaunda suit is said to have originated in Australia in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

It was the uniform of the British Army during the Second Boer War in South Africa. Kaunda suit has a shirt with two pockets on the chest and two on the waist. It is seen as a symbol of African solidarity and patriotism.<\/p>\n
