Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance on Wednesday accused Raila Odinga of breaching ground rules for envisaged mediation talks to be spearheaded by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.<\/p>\n

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah who will lead the ruling coalition\u2019s team in the dialogue said the Opposition breached a condition by Obasanjo not to mention him in public statements.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonouring the request by former Nigerian President Obasanjo not to be mentioned in any public statement, we regret the lack of decency by Azimio in not respecting this request,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The Kenya Kwanza team includes Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (UDA), Embu Governor Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, EALA MP Hassan Omar (UDA) and Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilanga.<\/p>\n

The team will join the Azimio delegation led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka with Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Eugene Wamalwa, Okong’o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi.<\/p>\n

Kenya Kwanza in a statement on Wednesday emphasized that the team will engage with the Azimio counterparts on five issues.<\/p>\n

They include the reconstitution of IEBC, implementation of two-thirds gender rule, the entrenchment of constituency development fund, establishment and entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.<\/p>\n

However, the opposition team led by Kalonzo Musyoka contested Kenya Kwanza\u2019s failure to include the cost of living, electoral reforms and alleged cases of police brutality as part of the agenda for proposed talks.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur position remains that no party to these negotiations can claim a right to determine for the other what to raise and what not to raise,\u201d they said in a statement.<\/p>\n
