Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Hon. Keketso Sello, has made a statement on Lesotho’s telecommunications policy in order to expedite the expansion of telecommunications services.

Given the dire circumstances of the Covid-19 epidemic worldwide and the challenges facing the Lesotho government to find ways to increase the recession, by implementing strategies that can help stabilize the situation, the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology use has identified issues that will be implemented from now until the next two years.

Sello said they did not enter into negotiations with telecommunications companies to identify ways in which they could support Basotho businesses in order to boost the country’s economy.

Sello described the steps to level the field in the communications process which is the extension of connections and communications, “we have heard and listened to the public outcry about the limited connection of connections around the country. Through the US Communication Services Fund (USF) ”. He went on to explain that they had made a change in the network.

“We have opened a process for traders in the construction of towers, the built towers will be used by all service providers, the maintenance costs of these items will be the responsibility of the service providers, the court will help to renew the performance agreement between of service providers, ”Sello said.

Explaining the management of the Public Service Conflict, Sello explained that on September 8, 2020, the council reported to the Cabinet on its performance, the Honorable Prime Minister advised the Communications Regulatory Council to set an example and to make the administration conform to the laws of the land.

He pointed out that within 100 days of joining the branch he instructed the communications regulatory board to assess the level of employee interests within the network service providers in order to ensure independent court decisions in the public service.
