Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho’s young road racing cyclist Kabelo Makatile has once again make the country proud at the 23rd Gyrphon ninety niner cycle tour that was held at Durbanville Horse Race Course

in Cape Town on Friday. From the 149 cyclists competing in the tour, Makatile finished 11th at the Under (U) 23 male category for a cycle tour distanced 100 Kilometers (Km) to 103 Km.

According to the Federation of Cycling Lesotho (FCL) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Malefane Morie, Makatile left the country on February 01st and will be back on March 7th.

“This race is part of the preparations which will pave his way to the African

Road Bike Championship. The championship was supposed to be held in Burkina Faso from March 22nd to 27th but will now be hosted by Egypt due to the civil unrest in Burkina Faso,” Morie said.

Makatile reportedly finished the race at 2:16:37. The PRO said they are proud of his performance. He said this competition was too tied for him, looking at the age and the fitness of his

opponents, he noted, “Makatile fought for this position. ” He reassured the fans that Makatile was well prepared for the race, saying it came not too long after the end of

Boland 100 Miller 2021 Marathon that took place in Cape Town in October last year. He also stipulated that they have enough professional training equipment that assists the cyclists to conduct

trainings but contrasted that they also need to gain more exposure and tactics to overcome challenges on the field. In a separate interview, Makatile told Informative

Sport that this was his first race for U23, and showed that it was a bit challenging for him to win in this race because it was flat. “It is every cyclist expectation to win every race but in this one it was advantageous for

those who reside there because they know places by hearts. “Apart from that, in the country we do not have flat races because the country is mountainous.

Therefore, I am inspired if I managed to gain the higher position regardless of the circumstances. I have done my best in this tour but it is clear that I have to do much better in the upcoming competitions,” he noted.
