Africa-Press – Lesotho. To assist the country intensify the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19) Engine Garage Company donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on Thursday.

The PPE donation of 2000 masks and 200 5litres of sanitizer was received by the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) as the implementing institution of the government on Covid-19 related issues.

When handing over the donation Engine Managing Director Motsarapane Molapo said the Covid-19 has disrupted the lives of Basotho and its effects continue to wreck havoc on the economy.

He also praised the government for the various efforts it has taken to keep Basotho safe. “ We are therefore excited to be assisting in the fight against this pandemic.

This is us giving back to the community that support us,” he said. NACOSEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thabo Khasipe expressed delight on reception of the

PPE. He said the PPE will make a huge difference especially to front liners who are working hard to keep the virus at bay. He also encouraged other private

companies to help the government fight this virus. He added that upon the formation of the NACOSEC they were frustrated with how the private sector lacked interest in helping the government until

they reached out. “We then realized that we have to engage the private sector in our initiatives and we did and things changed for the better,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Health Hon. Nto Moakhi commended Engine for the support and commitment it has shown to Basotho through this initiative. He said Lesotho has been through worse with HIV/AIDS which also

disrupted the cultural norms and living conditions of Basotho. “We just have to adapt to the new living conditions that come with Covid-19 and also adhere to health regulations put it place and we will survive,” he said.
