Africa-PressLesotho. Matlama female supporters known as Matlama Queens have donated food parcels to Matlama left footed defender Thabo Matšoele at Pitso Ground stadium over the weekend.

In interview with Matlama Queens representative ‘Makamohelo Selili, this reporter learned that the supporters find it worthy to donate food parcels to one of their players in these trying times of the ongoing pandemic

of Covid-19, that seem to have hit Matlama camp so bad. Matlama Management committee had, a few weeks back, made an official statement to announce about nine of its players who had tested positive for Covid-19,

as a result, the players were ordered to quarantine until they recover. “Being on isolation indicated that our boys were not able to do some side jobs to put

bread on the table without using their basic salaries offered by the team,” explained Selili She stated; “This initiative is a token of appreciation for

the role that our players play in restoring our pride and happiness when they win their matches. It also serves as a form of support to our players in

response to the outbreak of Covid-19 that has stopped premier league teams from collecting gate takings, which were usually used to pay players and run other

administrative expenditures in the team. Matlama Queens decided to form the foundation where women supporters contribute a certain amount of money that we

are now using to buy food parcels for our player: The items that were handed to Matšoele include; a bag of mealie meal, cooking oil and more grocery essentials.

Selili said they are willing to make more contributions until all players have received the food parcels. For his part, Thabo Matšoele indicated that he is very

excited to have received the food parcels from Matlama fans. “I am so happy to be the member of the family like this as I just joined the team last year, this

offer makes me more comfortable. It is a blessing that we still have fans that consider our lives as players beyond just being on the pitch. Lastly, this gift just came at the right time when I was experiencing financial struggles,” said Matšoele
