Africa-Press – Lesotho. Mothapo Development Organization (MDO) will represent Lesotho in the 10th international exhibition of inventions and the 3rd world invention and innovation forum planned to be held on the 14th September 2018 in Foshan South China.
This is according to MDO Public Relations Officer Ms. Mookho Mphonyo speaking in an exclusive interview on Thursday. Mphonyo revealed that this will be the first time Lesotho participates in the prestigious assembly and forum and will be represented by Mr.
Pitso Hloma; the President of MDO. At the General Assembly she said will be participants and representatives from over 50 member states. The International Federation of Investors (IFIA) is a global organization that organizes forums for inventors from around the world to present their inventions to potential market.
She said Lesotho has been granted a probationary membership status to IFIA for a period of one (1) year and one of the conditions of the probationary status is for them to attend the 2018 IFIA General Assembly and participate in the election of IFIA executive committee elections.
According to Mphonyo, the events at the General Assembly will be divided into three segments. The first she said will be an exposé whereby innovators will show their innovations and interact with their counterparts.
She said they will also stand a chance to attract potential customers and make business for their businesses or innovations. The second segment she said will be that of reports whereby each organization will table their annual report that entail how they have worked and how they plan to go forward.
The third and the last part of the event she said will be elections of the IFIA executive committee. However, for them she said this will be a learning experience since they are a new organization having started earlier this year. She said they will get to interact with their international counterparts and learn how things are done in their field.
MDO, according to Mphonyo, is a non-profit making organization established in February 2018 with the objective to: encourage the creation of new industries through commercialization of new technology and inventions, encourage inventions for sustainable economic growth, create employment opportunities through the promotion of inventions in local, regional and international markets.
She said the organization protects new inventions through the assistance of inventors in registering patents locally, regionally and internationally, promote the awareness of the significance of protecting intellectual property and to improve the standard of living of people by encouraging and fostering technology innovations and skills transfer.
