Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Fashion Week (LSFW) will launch a Television (TV) programme called Fashion Corner in June this year. The programme will be aired through social media platforms and will be sponsored by
Jet. LSFW Founder Mahali Granier Ntoampe explained that the LSFW initiative is the only high profile business to business marketing platform for fashion, footwear,
accessories and jewelries in Lesotho. She said by acting as an optimal platform for a designer to start, develop and grow their business, LSFW promotes designers
to the media, retail buyers and their clients both in Africa and internationally. “LSFW is held biannually, first in April/May for three days, showcasing the autumn/winter collections and six months later in
October/November, again for three days, showcasing the Spring/Summer collections,” she said. Ntoape further said since its launch in November 2018, LSFW has showcased over 50
fashion designers from over 10 countries including Lesotho, South Africa, Canada, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Angola and Zambia. It has
also opened its doors to over 50 undergraduates and graduate students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology to showcase their fashion and accessories, hair and beauty, art and photography, furniture and habitat to an
international audience of buyers, agents and future employers. She noted that LSFW will launch its brainchild TV programme called Fashion Corner which is a brand new TV Show that will broadcast weekly and digitally every Friday
between 14H00 and 15h00 from June 4th 2021. Ntoampe continued to say that this is a business of Fashion television show that is the ultimate Gold standard of Fashion in Lesotho.
“It brings together the movers, shakers and trailblazers of the local fashion industry and unites them with the big thinkers, entrepreneurs
and inspiring people who are shaping the world of fashion globally,” she said. Every week, the show will dive deep into a hot and trending topic around The Business
of Fashion. It will also explores current and future styles and trends, touching on everything from the rise of the supermodel phenomenon to the booming fashion
industry in Lesotho. “The Fashion Corner will also feature a starry lineup of local fashion pioneers and will be the number one window into the country’s ins
and outs of the fashion industry”. She highlighted that the show will be broadcasted on YouTube, Instagram TV and Facebook Watch. “These platforms are where our target audience are.
Most of our audience are an army of young consumers who mainly use social media to get their visual entertainment,” said Ntaope. She said the reason why they will go
online is because over 50% of their audience resides outside of Lesotho and by broadcasting online, this will ensure that this international audience is able
to consume the content. She revealed that their partnership with Jet was finalized in April, saying “Jet has officially joined forces with LSFW as the exclusive retail sponsor for the
launch of a brand new fashion, beauty and lifestyle television show”. Ntaope highlighted that the partnership between LSFW and Jet is driven by their passion for Lesotho, its people and its
creative talents. She said working hand in hand will allow them to showcase the wealth of their country’s talent to international audiences, thus contributing to their creative capital as well as job creation and economic growth.
