Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho is already enjoying the results of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as on Friday Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship, Police and Home Affairs together with the Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiaokun led the sod turning of the Maseru Fire Station and Fire Engines in Maseru.
This was witnessed amongst others by the Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr. Matjato Moteane, Mayor of Maseru Mr. Motlalepula Sepipi, Commissioner of Police Mr. Borotho Matsoso, senior government officers, senior police officers and police officers.
The fire station whose construction will start in due course is funded by the government of China to the tune of M130 million. On behalf of government Minister Moteane said it is not only the sod turning ceremony but it also signals the start of the construction of the project saying it is a clear sign of progress towards the Lesotho they want.
He said according to the 2021 International Fire Code and Sustainable Development Goal 11, every country is responsible to safeguarding cities and communities, life and property from fires and explosion hazards therefore this project will address this long term vision.
