Africa-Press – Lesotho. Although Lesotho didn’t secure even a single gold medal at the just-ended 2017 Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (Cossasa) Ball Games but coaches form different sport codes said they did all they can to make the host nation happy.
The games were hosted in Lesotho from last week Friday till Saturday. In overall Lesotho got position five out of seven countries while Botswana were crowned the champions.
Zimbabwe got position two leaving the 4th stand to Namibia and South Africa. Swaziland and Malawi were seen at the bottom respectively. Lesotho only collected seven silver medals and four bronze medals.
Lesotho national lawn tennis coach, Mojalefa Mothibe told this paper that it was their first time to compete in the Cossasa games and he pointed out that if this opportunity can stay for long, there is no doubt that it will contribute a lot in developing young tennis players who do not get chance to attend international competitions.
Mothibe disclosed they would love to be fully included in the next games’ budget and be told on time that they are going to be given such chance. He said that will help avoid all the inconveniences they experienced.
“My players we playing without attire and it was even no easy to transport the athletes,” said Mothibe.
On the other hand Lesotho rugby national coach, Morapeli Motaung mentioned that they learn a lot from those games and they are looking forward to work hard in making strong development teams.
“That was our first encounter since last year winter and in between we have not got even a single friendly.
It not easy for us to keep our development play often because we do not have their own league but we will do all we can to secure some friendly for them in other to keep them exposed,” promised Motaung.
In soccer Under 17 Lesotho was penalized for registration misplacement of athletes and they ended up playing with few numbers in the pitch. In this category Lesotho were the defending champions but Namibia was smart enough to dethrone them.
Lesotho Cossasa organizing committee public relations officer, Teboho Pholo, praised Basotho for their support and confirmed that everything was in order even though they lacked resourced to fully execute their duties.

Soccer under 17 boys- silver, Soccer boy under 13- bronze, Volleyball under 17 girls- silver, Volleyball under 13 girls- silver, Volleyball boys under 13 – 4th position, Netball under 17-bronze,Netball under 13 -4th position, Rugby under 17-silver,Rugby under 13 –4th position, Tennis boys under 13-silver, Tennis girls under 13-bronze, Tennis boys under 17 –bronze, Tennis girls under 17-silver, Ladies soccer under 17-silver and Basketball -position 4 in all categories.
