Africa-Press – Lesotho. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane said the commemorating of the first year anniversary of implementation of country plan with the World Food Programme (WFP) marks not only a continuation but a significant deepening of Lesotho’s government and WFP partnership.

Lesotho government and WFP had an official launch of the WFP’s Second-Generation Country Strategic Plan (2G-CSP) for Lesotho (2024-2029) on Wednesday in Maseru.

It is at this event where Mr. Mpotjoane said the partnership is a steadfast ally in the national quest to end hunger, build resilience, and uplift the lives of the most vulnerable people, adding that the first generation CSP played a crucial role in addressing acute food insecurity, supporting school feeding programs, and enhancing disaster risk management and climate resilience.

“While we greatly appreciate the significant achievements of the first generation CSP, it is important to recognize that the success of all four strategic objectives, particulars those aimed at fostering resilient, efficient and inclusive food systems, centers on our acknowledgement that food systems are inherently complex and multifaceted. Addressing these challenges requires coordinated, multisectoral efforts and integrated interventions, particularly in the context of climate change adaptation and the provision of climate services,” said the Minister.
