Africa-Press – Lesotho. Youth in Qacha’s Nek have been called to step forward and claim their place in the Bacha Entrepreneurship Programme (BEP), a national initiative offering M1 million in funding to help young Basotho start or grow their own businesses.
This powerful call to action came during an outreach campaign held at the District Urban Council Hall by officials from the Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (BEDCO), Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL), and Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB).
BEP, a collaboration between BEDCO, RSL, and SLB, targets youth aged 21 to 35 with a minimum of a Grade 12 qualification. Its core mission is to promote entrepreneurship, create jobs, and reduce poverty by providing financial and technical support to aspiring business owners in the informal sector.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nthati Nyabela, BEDCO’s SMME Funding Specialist and the BEP Project Coordinator, announced that each selected business will be eligible for up to M200,000. The funding will be awarded to five businesses nationwide.
