Madagascar Begins Tenure as SADC Chair of Council

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is meeting from Tuesday August 12 to 14 in Antananarivo, Republic of Madagascar to deliberate on key programmes, policies, and initiatives.

The above pillars are aimed at: Deepening regional integration, Strengthening peace and security and Fostering inclusive economic growth.

This year’s Council is being held under the theme: “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC”.

The highlight of the meeting was the ceremonial handover of the Chairmanship of the SADC Council of Ministers from Professor Amon Murwira, Minister of International Relations and Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, to Dr. Rafaravavitafika Rasata, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar
