Africa-Press – Lesotho. Everton made a perfect start to life at their new home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in their opening Premier League clash of the season.
Goals in either half from Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner secured the points, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford added to the celebrations by saving a penalty late on.
Jack Grealish, making his first start for the Toffees, played a starring role with two assists. The former Manchester City man set up Ndiaye’s opener midway through the first half, drilling in a low cross that the Senegalese forward tucked away.
Brighton, who struck the woodwork twice before the interval, saw their hopes further dashed just seven minutes after the restart when Garner fired home Everton’s second.
The visitors had a chance to pull one back in the 77th minute, but Pickford denied Danny Welbeck from the spot to preserve the clean sheet.
The win not only gave Everton their first points of the 2025/26 season but also ensured a dream beginning at their new ground under David Moyes.
