Africa-Press – Lesotho. Staff members of Souru FM, Qacha’s Nek community radio participated in a one-day capacity-building workshop on Saturday.
The workshop focused on key areas including news writing, scriptwriting, professional conduct, the Broadcasting Code, and the spirit of volunteerism.
Board Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Abia Nkofo, opened the event and outlined its objectives, emphasizing the need to raise standards and deepen community engagement. He said the training was aimed at improving operations and strengthening the station’s role as a voice for the community. “We want to strengthen professionalism, ethics, and community engagement at the station amid the existing challenges,” he added.
Board Secretary General Mr. Thapelo Rantle unpacked the Broadcasting Code and the legal framework for community radio, explaining that the Communications Act, 2012 defines community broadcasting as programming determined by, and serving the aspirations of, the community that owns the broadcaster.
