Africa-Press – Lesotho. Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield reignited concerns about Mohamed Salah’s form. Once again invisible on the pitch, the Egyptian star failed to make an impact, drawing criticism from club legend Jamie Carragher.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher urged new manager Arne Slot to reconsider Salah’s automatic starter role, suggesting that the winger should be managed more selectively this season.
“He’s a real headache for the manager,” Carragher said. “Even Klopp used to take him off when things weren’t working. We’ve reached a point where Salah shouldn’t play every game. He’s still a key player, but maybe not the first name on the team sheet every week.” The former defender added that Liverpool might benefit from rotating him, especially during congested schedules in Europe and the Premier League.
Salah’s substitution in the 85th minute for Jeremie Frimpong seemed to validate Carragher’s point, as the Dutchman immediately injected energy down the right flank. For Slot, finding the right balance between experience and freshness could be crucial in Liverpool’s quest to stay competitive on all fronts.
