Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Maseru District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr. Tilo Namane says everyone experiences mental health challenges, differing only in severity. He made these remarks during the commemoration of World Mental Health Day held in Maseru on Wednesday.

Dr. Namane stressed the importance of setting aside time to care for one’s mental well-being, urging the public to visit health facilities for mental health screening and timely assistance.

He expressed concern over the growing vulnerability of young people, noting that unemployment has pushed many into substance abuse as a coping mechanism, ultimately harming their lives.

He highlighted that depression is real and widespread, but many people avoid seeking help due to stigma and fear of being judged. He called on Basotho to seek support early, adding that mental health services are available and free.
