Africa-Press – Lesotho. Despite agreement or addendum signed last Friday between the government of Lesotho and Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL), following downing tools by latter health centres, some of the health centres have still not restored services. The Agency has learned.
Last Friday some of health centres under CHAL downed tools after not getting November salaries as government failed to keep their end of the bargain by providing subvention to CHAL.
The addendum which will work until March next year when the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be active was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane by Ministers of Health Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane and Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane. The addendum among others entailed that services be restored while payments are being made.
The Agency has discovered that St. Joseph’s hospital services are still on halt despite the agreement on Friday to restore them.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Minister of Health Mr. Mochoboroane confirmed that the addendum was signed saying however they had agreed that services will go back to normal.
