Africa-Press – Lesotho. Member of Economic and Development Cluster in the Parliament Mrs. ‘Marefuoe ‘Muso has expressed concern over non-membership of youth within established agricultural organisations in the district.
She was addressing different agricultural organisation members and individual farmers during a meeting held at the District Administrator’s premises on Wednesday where she said their absence is a major concern as the country is currently experiencing high rate of unemployment among youth, saying majority are graduating from different tertiary institutions and only a few are getting jobs.
Mrs. Muso stated that in the southern region, Quthing and Mohale’s Hoek have engaged youth in agriculture sector, appealing to agricultural administrations and individual farmers to ensure inclusion of youth in agriculture as by so doing they will be contributing to creating jobs for unemployed youth, saying they have agreed that before every allocation of budget they need to meet with farmers to hear from them if they are satisfied with the distribution of subsidised agricultural inputs within their respective areas.
She congratulated Makaota for effectively establishing agricultural organisations and learnt that they are fully operating and their challenges, saying they only lack information about the achievements and called for those involved in agriculture to create jobs for unemployed communities for better living.
