Lesotho Strengthens Access to Justice with New Guidelines

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Ministry of Law and Justice held a workshop in Maseru on Friday to present and validate new guidelines for Legal Aid clinics.

The aim of the workshop was to reaffirm Lesotho’s commitment to equal access to justice and aiming to standardise and strengthen services for vulnerable citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Law and Justice, Mr. Lira Ralebese said the guidelines form the foundation of a more inclusive legal aid system.

He noted that access to justice is not simply a legal practice but a constitutional human right. He said since 1978, legal aid offices have been centralised, making it difficult for indigent and marginalised people to receive help.
