Africa-Press – Lesotho. As Lesotho advances its development agenda, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA) will intensify its support in 2026 to strengthen industrialisation, trade and sustainability, in line with the National Strategic Development Plan II (NSDP II), Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Lesotho’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Ambassador Ms. Nts’iuoa Sekete, welcomed the anticipated intervention, saying it holds promise for tangible change and sustainable development for the Kingdom.
She noted that Lesotho views ECA’s targeted support as both timely and strategic, adding that strengthening industrial policy, regional value chains and micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) competitiveness is essential to ensure that the country’s integration into regional and continental markets translates into inclusive growth, resilience and sustainable livelihoods for Basotho.
