Africa-Press – Lesotho. The murder case of the former Prime Minister (PM) Hon. Motsoahae Thabane and his wife ‘Maesaiah Thabane of Makhoakhoeng, Ha-Nelese will be heard next year.

These developments were revealed during the pre-trial interview at the High Court on Tuesday this week. They face charges of murder and attempted murder of Thabane’s wife, Lipolelo

Thabane. They are also charged with malicious damage to property. Their case will be heard from March 8 to 10, 2022. They are accused together with Rethabile Mokete popularly known as Mosotho Chakela,

a Mosotho male residing in Bloemfontein, South Africa (SA), now deceased, Seabata Lieta a Mosotho male residing in Mangaung, SA, Macheli Koeshe, and Molefi

Matima a Mosotho male residing in Seboke SA, also deceased. The accused are guilty of the crime of contravening the provisions Penal Code Act, 2010. They

are also accused in connection to the murder of Lipolelo on June 14, 2017, at or near Ha-Masana in the outskirts of Maseru. They further face charges of an attempt to kill Thato Sibolla who was travelling in

the same car with the deceased. She sustained injuries during the shooting of the deceased. Last year, Mrs Thabane was incarcerated for three weeks in connection with the

murder of Lipolelo. She was later released on bail by the High Court. Meanwhile, Thabane was not formerly charged despite appearing before the Magistrate Court

earlier in 2020. Representing the former Premier is Attorney Qalehang Letsika while Mrs Thabane’s lawyer is Advocate Salemane Phafane King’s Counsel (KC). Justice Molefi Makara has been assigned to hear this case.
