Africa-Press – Lesotho. As retailers are hoping for last minute splurge from Christmas shoppers this weekend, consumers have been warned to be cautious about their spending for Christmas as the festive season is expected to see a mix of growth and caution.

Consumer Protection Association (CPA) President Mr. Nkareng Letsie said in an interview on Sunday where he said consumers should make calculated decisions to balance festive aspirations with economic pressures saying they have two months of worry (January and February) therefore they should spend wisely and within budget.

He said while attending all festivities, they should bear in mind that in less than two weeks, life will go back to normal as they will be faced with responsibilities much more important thus paying school fees, buying books etc. He said they should ensure that they live within their means so that they do not find themselves slaving the whole year for debt they incurred for one day’s joy.

“People need to live within their means and be happy with what they have because if not they will have to live the next year with debts that would result in them seeing no meaning to life as they will be living with unnecessary lifetime debt”, he said.
