Africa-Press – Lesotho. Roma Street vendors say this year’s Christmas season is the dullest of all years they have been in this business.

Mr. Thabiso Mafoso told the Agency that since their stalls were removed in July to make way for the reconstruction of A5 road from St. Michael’s to Roma, business has not been good at all but things got worse now when the National University of Lesotho (NUL) closed for Christmas holidays.

He said NUL students are their major clientele and since the school closed on December 07, they have not been making any money.

Another, Ms. Sebabatso Marole said last year on these dates her salon was packed with those doing nails and hairs saying she even had to hire temporary staff to ease the workload.

She said since the weekend she has had about seven clients saying that there are no appointments. She said this is the dullest Christmas without business.

Meanwhile the vendors operating from Ha-Scout to Selakheng along the National University of Lesotho (NUL) are removed as they are on the road reserve and thiis is to make way for the ongoing reconstruction of A5 road from St. Michael’s to Roma and a stretch to St. Joseph’s hospital.

There are about 350 street vendors operating near NUL.
