Africa-Press – Lesotho. It has now become a norm for Lesotho as a Christian nation that the national budget presentation coincides with Ash Wednesday. This could be attributed to the relaxed and calm mood surrounding the National Assembly prior to the budget presentation.
Elegantly dressed Members of Parliament (MPs), senior government officials, development partners showed up in large numbers.
Upon arriving at the National Assembly premises, Revolution For Prosperity (RFP) MPs were singing and dancing to their party songs as they walked to the August House.
Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane will present the 2026/27 budget under the theme, “Driving Resilient and Inclusion Growth Through Advanced Digital Strategies”.
In an interview, Matala MP Dr. Ts’eliso Moroke briefly said the expectation is for the 2026/27 budget to respond to the major challenges facing the country like economic growth and unemployment.
He added that in the past four years as MP he has done his work of representing the people of Ha Matala as well as ensuring that public funds are used accordingly.
