Africa-Press – Lesotho. Liverpool FC have confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave the club at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to one of the most decorated spells in the club’s modern history.
In an official statement, Liverpool revealed that the decision to announce Salah’s departure now was driven largely by the player himself, who wanted clarity over his future made public as early as possible. The club mentioned that the Egyptian forward felt a strong sense of responsibility toward supporters, choosing transparency out of “respect and gratitude” for their unwavering backing throughout his time at Anfield.
Salah, who joined the Reds from AS Roma in 2017, will close a remarkable nine-year chapter having firmly cemented his place among Liverpool’s all-time greats. During his stay, he has been central to a period of sustained success, helping deliver multiple major honours including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, while consistently standing out as the team’s attacking focal point.
The numbers alone underline his impact. With 255 goals in 435 appearances, Salah currently sits third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring chart, alongside four Premier League Golden Boot awards and numerous individual accolades that reflect his dominance over nearly a decade in English football.
Despite the emotional weight of the announcement, Liverpool were keen to stress that the immediate focus remains on the pitch. With the season still unfolding, Salah is fully committed to helping the club achieve the strongest possible finish, with formal tributes and celebrations of his legacy expected closer to his Anfield farewell later in the year.
