Africa-Press – Lesotho. The National University of Lesotho (NUL) through its energy research centre will tomorrow host a demonstration of solar gadgets. In an interview with Moruti Kao, a lecturer at the university and one of the organizers of the event, told Public Eye Online that the purpose of tomorrow’s event is to enlighten Basotho about the importance of solar energy and how useful it can be in citizens’ day-to-day lives.

He said the demonstrations will include various solar gadgets where students behind the innovations will also be given an opportunity to showcase their products.

“We want to show Basotho about the new hot topic in the world which is solar energy.

A lot of people are switching from regular electricity to solar energy because it is affordable and, fortunately, Lesotho has sufficient sunlight which can assist Basotho in vast ways,” Kao said.

“Apart from that, we will also educate Basotho in the villages who cannot afford electricity to utilise the sun and start using solar for a lot of things,” he added.

Meanwhile, the event will be held at the NUL parking lot by the main gate tomorrow at 10:00am. The department of energy and NUL’s other international partners will be there to grace tomorrow’s event.
