Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho Police Service (LMPS) through the Department of Science and Health established an agreement with the Blood Donation Center (LBTS) last week to save the lives of vulnerable people.
Senior Superintendent Piti Emmanuel Khutlang from the Ministry of Science and Health explained that the agreement was established from last year 2020/21, with the aim of preserving the lives of the police and the community as their motto states ” Policeman, Assistant, Friend ”, said the project was not only for the police but also for the community to help each other save lives that could be lost due to lack of blood.
“We want to save the lost lives of Basotho, and save ours as a police force so that the whole of Lesotho as a whole is safe. Giving blood is a great sacrifice, and it is love for your neighbor. We encourage people who can donate blood to do so.
We want to be donors all the time, and our police are anemic because there are so many things that a person whose blood pressure is ultimately low can keep him alive. We want to get to the point where every Mosotho is safe, ”he said.
Khutlang went on to explain that they will support the Basotho community, saying that sometimes a mother loses a lot of blood during childbirth, so donating blood is better to help that person save his life. He said that people who may be ill because of many diseases, it is better not to donate blood.
Meanwhile, Mr Letšasa Molete from LBTS described the agreement as a “big deal”, saying they were aware of the lack of blood in the country, and that the police office had recently met with them to resolve the issue.
