Africa-Press – Lesotho. Hardly a week after the elections of the All Basotho Convention (ABC) Leader, the Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro has tended his resignation at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
These developments were confirmed by the party’s Secretary General Lebohang Hlaele. ABC had over the weekend held the leadership elections after its leader and one of its
founders Hon. Motsoahae Thabane stepped down from the position he held since 2006 when the party was established. Qeme No.43 Member of Parliament (MP) and former Minister Hon.
Nkaku Kabi emerged a victor after beating Dr Majoro and Tsikoane No.14 MP Hon Samonyane Ntsekele. Initially there were four contestants vying for the leadership position.
The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology Hon. Tsoinyane Rapapa pulled out at the last minute throwing his weight behind Dr Majoro. Although
there are calls for Dr Majoro to stepdown from the Prime Minister’s position for the ABC’s new leader, the public is yet to see if he will eventually give in to the pressure to step down.
