Africa-Press – Lesotho. Mafeteng District Governor Mr Motinyane Motinyane has appealed to the Matelile community to refrain from the killings that appear to have taken another turn where 13 people have been killed in a month.
In an interview with the Voice of the Nation on Tuesday, Motinyane said the chiefs of the Matelile area villages from Ribaneng to Mamaebana wrote a letter to him requesting to transfer it to the Lesotho army where he requested a toilet.
He said the main public outcry was that the Lesotho police were doing a good job but it appeared that their biggest challenge was the need for equipment such as vehicles to reach areas in need of assistance.
“The main concern of the community is that perhaps the military will not be in the area and the change will be based on their belief that criminals are the military and with their resources help as much as these villages are ashamed of where they are.
the perpetrators of these acts flee to the scene after they have committed them, ”Motinayane puts it. Motinyane said the killings were a regular occurrence and that the community had always been uncomfortable and afraid to sleep in their dormitories.
He said seven people from different families and villages had been shot dead over the weekend while others were in hospital. “Four people were shot at the end of December last year when three other children were shot last month.
Most of the men who were shot by the men and the perpetrators were eventually arrested while others ended up just coming home for days living in South Africa, ”he explained.
He went on to show that his office is making a contribution by donating a car to the police and the army to investigate, speeding up the burning house and rushing the injured to the hospital.
“Reports are circulating to ministers and security officials and meetings are being held with the chiefs and the electorate to overcome this problem and I urge the Mafeteng community to stop the killings,” Motinyane said.
In an interview with the King of Makhaleng, Mr. Sekhonyana Seeiso, he explained that these events have been taking place in a row from the end of December last year to the 21st of January this year in his constituency in Ha-Koepe, Malea-lea.
, Infertility and The Watchtower where another king reigns.
“We were very concerned about these incidents and asked for a military toilet facility to assist us as we realized that the police were overburdened when they did not have services such as emergency vehicles,” he said.
He said the cause seems to be the conflict between working men in South Africa that ultimately affects innocent people so that the families of their opponents will suffer.
” These incidents take place during the day and are perpetrated by well-known people who end up being hidden by their parents knowing that such people are wanted as it is well known that after committing these acts they flee to South Africa.
. They are fleeing to nearby areas where they still have relatives where they know the process of hiding will be easier, ”he explained.
He said they were responsible for reporting the matter to the Mafeteng district governor because he must be aware of what was going on inside the district and that the army had been in the area since Friday to monitor the situation where they would assist each other. in villages such as Ha-kanono, Ha-Thipe, Ha-Ramosoeu and Ha-Tebelo.
