The Minister of Education and Training, Ms. Ntlhoi Motsamai announced on Saturday that the Junior Certificate (JC) and Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) examinations will commence on 22 February to March 31.
The announcement of the Minister comes after the Prime Minister lifted a two-week total lockdown, which disrupted the sitting of the final examination.
During her announcement, Ms. Motsamai stated that everyone is expected to abide by COVID-19 recommendations from World Health Organisation (WHO), as the examinations will still commence under the COVID-19 pandemic, further appealing to parents and guardians to ensure that they provide students with masks.
The Minister also urged school board members to ensure that schools are disinfected before the examination begins.
Ms. Motsamai urged students to study hard in preparation for their examinations, adding that parents also should show support to the children since students sit for examinations during a difficult time in which the world is faced with a deadly pandemic.
In conclusion, the minister said the timetable will be released by the Examination Council of Lesotho (ECOL).
The commencing of JC and LGCSE final examinations comes after their postponement due to lockdown in January this year.
