Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>In order to improve education and computer literacy education for primary school children, Mr Ramatlali Ramatlali is working hard to ensure that Lebakeng primary school children receive a quality education.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Voice of the Nation, Ramatlali explained when he started the project in 2018 where he was working on Tebelong Qacha\u2019s Nek Primary School.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started my education as a business but realized that the parents of some of the children were not able to pay the bills, so I parted company with them in 2019 when the business failed. Then at that time I was using computers that were not my own and the owner needed to make a living from them.<\/p>\n

“After I parted company with them in the business world I realized that my goal of helping children had not been achieved and I started looking for ways to bring this education for free,” he said.<\/p>\n

said so. He asked for overseas aid and when he was successful he bought a total of ten computers in spite of the inconvenience. He started teaching the children last year in June. Matlali points out that he chose to start at Lebakeng Primary School because it is his hometown.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was challenged by the fact that in the primary school curriculum there was a computer education program but the government did not provide them, and I realized that the children of Lebakeng were in danger of being asked about it when they wrote their exams.<\/p>\n

Ramatlali points out that his ambition is to see the education of his children reach out to all schools in the area over time. He also said that education helps children not to feel emotionally excluded from low school children.<\/p>\n

He added that since starting the project, the children have developed a great deal of confidence. He also said he had a dream of expanding the project to at least three districts in the hills, namely Qacha\u2019s Nek where he has started, in Mokhotlong and Thaba-Tseka.<\/p>\n

He says he helps the elementary school children a lot but on the weekends he helps high school students and all the well-meaning people who may need to know computer-related things that can be useful in their lives and careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe importance of this education is to help Basotho children to choose a new world (digital world).<\/p>\n

Covid-19 has already shown us how quickly our lives can change in our habits, and we must continue to learn in order to choose the conditions for our future where most of the things we are about to do will be. sitting on the floor in houses, we now have control over our mobile phones and computers.<\/p>\n

My expectation is that by the end of this year at least these children will be able to write at least 40 words per second using computers, while in the future the expectation will be that they will be able to write 60 words, ‘ and they have become very encouraging, \u201dhe concluded.<\/p>\n
