Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Botho University (BU) has inaugurated the newly elected Students Representative Council (SRC). The 10 SRC members took their oath before the university management and students on Tuesday and they are<\/p>\n

to serve their term from 15 February 2022 to October 2022. They are; President \u2013 T\u0161epo T\u0161oane, Vice President \u2013 Phuthoang Mohlakoana, Secretary General \u2013 Bongani Debesh, Minister of Finance \u2013 Moeketsi<\/p>\n

Jane, Minister of Public Relations \u2013 Teboho Machaha, Minister of Sports \u2013 Paramente Makubata, Minister of Academics- Tankiso Ramaoto, Minister of Gender \u2013<\/p>\n

Katleho Thabana, Minister of Justice \u2013 Lethabo Nyahi, Minister of Entertainment \u2013 Charles Jane and Minister of Administrative Secretary \u2013 Tlalane Nteso.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the inauguration, BU Dean Dr Abhishek Ranjan said, \u201cIt is important to identify the importance of the event and what these people will contribute to the nation as the future<\/p>\n

graduates and citizens of the country. This is how we groom Lesotho\u2019s future leaders\u201d. He encouraged the committee members to use the opportunities they are provided with.<\/p>\n

He cautioned that they should not be clued to the service as that would deprive their right to enjoy their lives academically and socially. When handing over the<\/p>\n

presidency, the outgoing SRC Vice President, Hlokomelang Koetje proudly noted that they performed their duties in ensuring stability at the university.<\/p>\n

He congratulated the upcoming SRC for winning the votes. \u201cPlease grab this opportunity given to you, use it effectively because time flies, be representatives, know what your<\/p>\n

followers want also what they deserve so that their functions correspond with their interest. My word of advice to you is that when you encounter problems,<\/p>\n

please look for the root of that problem or challenge, and also learn to accept your mistakes, sit down together as a team to solve the matters. \u201cI know the work ahead<\/p>\n

might be tedious and the tunnel might be long but I promise we shall all see the light at the end. My government might not achieve everything in a day but<\/p>\n

we promise that we will engage relevant stakeholders, authorities and offices to make sure that our learning is smooth and our wellbeing here is respected.<\/p>\n

I also want to encourage students to increase the student humanism as we have to take responsibility of taking care of one another because when we care we also share,\u201d<\/p>\n

said the new SRC President. Also present was the guest speaker, Artist Selimo Thabane who said the SRC is going to push for policies implementation, negotiate with university management on concerns of students such as academic<\/p>\n

exclusion and financial exclusion. \u201cOnce you have a corrupt SRC then you are bound to have a corrupt cabinet. It is therefore upon you to take the opportunity to change the masses of students so that they can trust you as better leaders,\u201d Thabane motivated.<\/p>\n
