Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) is of the positive view that the upcoming Moshoeshoe Walk will be low-hanging fruit to the tourism industry.<\/p>\n

The tourism industry is one of the worst affected by the COVID-19 sponsoring measures that the country imposed to curb the spread of the pandemic. With the<\/p>\n

ease of pandemic restrictions, more social and economic activities that were prohibited have resumed. LTDC is a government agency charged with the mandate to promote tourism activities in<\/p>\n

the country and support the sector. LTDC Public Relations (PR) Manager \u2018Manchafalo Mot\u0161oeneng said the walk is one of the \u201cmajor drivers of tourism development\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our view, Moshoeshoe Walk is one event that we see as a catalyst in our drive to<\/p>\n

rebuilt tourism in the midst of Covid-19 and its negative effects the industry suffered. The event attracts visitors from different parts of southern Africa<\/p>\n

and beyond as well as domestic travellers thus igniting local travel and attracting international travellers. \u201cIt also promotes local communities\u2019 participation in tourism development since<\/p>\n

locals along the route engage in small tourism businesses to generate income (sale of souvenirs, food, and services),\u201d she said. The LTDC PR Manager further pointed out that the Walk has since grown in leaps and<\/p>\n

bounds, adding that it will attract more participants owing to the eased COVID-19 restrictions which have allowed more social and economic activities to<\/p>\n

take place. Mot\u0161oeneng highlighted that with the relaxation of the COVID-19 rules, many people are \u201cexcited to travel and explore Lesotho to unwind and relax\u201d.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cMoshoeshoe Walk offers an experience of a lifetime. LTDC supports this initiative in a number of ways to ensure its success. \u201d Meanwhile, Thabo Maretlane, Managing Director at T.<\/p>\n

Connexion Travel and Tours, a company that organises this event, said they are amped to commerce, adding that they are now \u201cputting finishing touches\u201d on the logistics.<\/p>\n

Moshoeshoe Walk is an annual three-day event that was organized since 2007. It had attracted the participation of their Majesties King Letsie III and Queen<\/p>\n
